Castellón Province

Castellon is the northern-most province of the three that form the Valencian Community. A region of mountains and great open vistas, it rubs shoulders with Cataluña in the north and Aragon to the west. The coastal plain is the famed Costa Azahar, the Orange Blossom coast, but it’s interior is steeped in history; small villages tucked against hillsides to ward off the cold and invaders, walled towns whose streets still seem to echo with the call of the muazzin summoning the Moorish faithful to prayer. Politically it forms part of the Valencian Community, but to those who live in the north of the province it will forever be the Maestrazgo, an ill-defined area that straddles it’s near neighbours, and to which the give their allegiance.
